On Thursday 11 July, 13 youngsters from the “Vélo Trial & Multisport” course organised by AGISCA visited the Liège-Bastogne-Liège Cycling Centre!

And some of the apprentice cyclists already knew a thing or two about current events and the technological evolution of the bicycle, even though not so long ago they were still riding a … draisienne!

Throughout the visit, comments and pertinent questions came from all sides about the history of the bicycle, and also about what’s happening in the world of cycling! The distinctive jerseys of the Tour de France held almost no secrets for the children, and the names of Belgian champions De Lie, Philipsen and Van Aert were on everyone’s lips.

For almost an hour and 15 minutes, the children were given a variety of explanations throughout the different areas of the house, so that they could learn more about the history of cycling and cycling competitions. They were also able to explore the exploits recounted on the wall of great champions. Thanks to the virtual helmet with 360° images, they were also able to discover the sensational ascent of the Redoute by our national Phil, as well as trying to beat him on the ascent of this same legendary climb on the Wahoo virtual bike supplied by Bicyclic and equipped with Kinomap technology!

Afterwards, the children were able to use the educational booklet to search the museum for clues to answer the questions asked by Fred, the journalist!

The team at the Maison du Cyclisme would like to thank the children and their counsellors for their participation and their exemplary behaviour and fair play. We hope to see them again soon, with their families and friends, in the summer, for another visit and new cycling adventures!
